Wava Skaggs, passed peacefully in Hanover, Pennsylvania on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at age 101.
Born in Denison, Kansas, she was married to her high school sweetheart, Bob Skaggs during World War II. They were members of the Greatest Generation. Over their lifetimes, Bob and Wava crisscrossed the globe serving this nation as a military family and as civilians. Bob retired from the U.S. Army National Guard as a Major and retired again from the Department of Labor. Wava worked in many capacities for the federal government and retired from the National Security Agency at Ft. Meade, Maryland. She is remembered for her zest for adventure, generosity, adaptability, quick wit, and playful sense of humor. She was loved by everyone that knew her because of her kindness and desire to support those around her. The twinkle in her eyes and warmth of her smile were a joy to share.
Survivors include her son Jay and wife Sandra, her grandson Rob Dekelbaum and wife Stephanie, granddaughter Alayna (Dekelbaum) Henderson and husband Bryn, and three great grandchildren, Kaia, Kamea, and Kaelie Henderson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob, and daughter, Roberta Skaggs Fitzpatrick (Bobbie Kay).
A gathering of family and friends is being planned for later this year.
