Wava G. Skaggs

Wava (Braum/Myers) Skaggs died on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at SpiriTrust Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace at the age of 101.

Born in Denison, Kansas, she was married to her high school sweetheart, Bob Skaggs, during World War II. They were members of the “Greatest Generation”. Over their lifetimes, Bob and Wava served this nation as a military family and as civilians. Wava retired from the National Security Agency at Fort Meade, Maryland. She will be remembered for her generosity, adaptability and playful sense of humor.

Survivors include her son, Jay; two grandchildren, Rob Dekelbaum and Alayna (Dekelbaum) Henderson; and three great-grandchildren, Kaia, Kamea and Kaelie Henderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; and her daughter, Roberta (Bobbie Kay).

Burial will be in Denison Cemetery in Denison, Kansas where there will be a reunion for family and friends planned later this year.
