Walter F. “Walt” Huffman, 77, of Hanover, beloved husband of Jette Huffman, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at the Pappus House in Thomasville.
Born on Saturday, November 1, 1947 in Baltimore, he was a son of the late Stuart and Alice Talitha Frank Huffman. He was a graduate of Kenwood High School and served with the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Walt began his career with the Baltimore County Fire Department in 1971, serving as an instructor at the Baltimore County Fire Academy and retired in 1999 as a captain with the Baltimore County Fire Department. He was a member of the Baltimore County Firefighter Retirees and was of the Methodist faith. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 39 years, he is survived by two children, Tina Munchel and her husband, Joseph, of Hanover, and Susan Willadsen of Baltimore; six grandchildren, Samantha Spivey, Stephen Munchel and his wife, Allison, Olivia Shaw, Dillon Huffman, Emily Mead and her husband, Keenan, and Adam Huffman; four great-grandchildren, Logan and Lacy Spivey, and Reece and Colton Shaw; a brother, Jack Otto and his wife, Judy; a half-sister, Jane Cassel; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Stuart Lee Huffman and Matthew Darren Huffman; a grandson, Bailey Moring; and a sister, Ruby Hart.
A celebration of Walt’s life will be held at a later date.
