Thomas L. Newcome

Thomas L. Newcome, 91 of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at his home.

Born on Thursday, July 19, 1934 in Rose Township, PA, he was a son of the late Melvin C. and Charlotte Horton Newcome. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Dolores M. Newcome, who died in 2014; and a daughter, Debby Jeram, who died in 2022; and siblings Melvin Jr, Melissa, William , Samuel, Arthur, Nancy, Judith, and Larry.

Tom was a 1952 graduate of Brookville (PA) High School and received his Bachelor’s degree in Math Education from Clarion State University in 1962, a Master’s degree in Mathematics from West Virginia University and a Master’s degree in Administration from St. Bonaventure University. In 1993, he retired from the Hanover Public School District, as Principal of Hanover High School. Tom was a member of Grace Global Methodist Church in Hanover and the Elk Masonic Lodge #379 F&AM in Ridgway, PA.

Survivors include two children, Caralee O’Brien and her husband, Kevin, of Hanover; a son, Thomas L. Newcome, II and his wife, Connie, of Holly Springs, NC; a sister, Margaret Silvis of Mechanicsburg; two grandchildren, Daniel O’Brien and his wife, Jessica, and Kathryn O’Brien; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Brady, Jacob and Henry O’Brien.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Grace Global Methodist Church in Hanover with The Rev. Todd Christine officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
