Terrence L. “Terry” Hormel, 76, of Marco Island, FL, Jasper, GA and formerly of Hanover, PA, beloved husband of Monna (Brown) Hormel, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2026 at his home on Marco Island following a courageous battle with glioblastoma.

Born on April 12, 1949 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Glenn L. and Margret (Longstreth) Hormel. He was the valedictorian of his 1967 graduating class of South Western High School, Terry received his Bachelor’s degree in Writing and English from the University of Pittsburgh in 1971 where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa fraternity. In 1972 he earned his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Business, majoring in Operations Research and Transportation Economics in 1972.

Terry began his career as a management consultant in the transportation and physical distribution practice of AT Kearney: Management Consultants in Chicago in 1972. Subsequently, he owned and operated several businesses in the Hanover area: KeyMan Distribution Resources, Keystone Distribution Center, Midlantic Transfer, Ltd., Hormel Associates, PennTown Properties, and Sheets Brothers, a farm and industrial equipment dealer. He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Hanover and Trust Company (1982-2008), board member of the Bank of Lancaster County and Sterling Financial Corporation (2001-2008), and the regional board of PNC Bank (2008-2013). He also served on the Board of Directors of the RH Sheppard Company and Eisenhart Wallcoverings.

Terry was a past Treasurer and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hanover General Hospital and the Hanover Healthcorp (1982-2009), past Chairman of the York County Economic Development Corporation and the General Authority of Southcentral Pennsylvania (2000-2015), was an Adjunct Professor of Business Administration at York College and the Pennsylvania State University (1975-1994), and was a past member of the York College Board of Trustees and the Hanover Country Club. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Royal Palm Golf Club in Naples, FL, the Island Club of Marco Island, the Mountains at Big Canoe Golf and Country Club in Jasper, GA, and was a former member of the Hanover Country Club.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Monna, Terry is survived by a son, Eric Hormel and his wife, Amy, of Marco Island; two grandchildren, Ian Hormel of Falls Church, VA and Mallory Hormel of Marco Island; two sisters, Pamela Brown and her husband, Jeffry, of Hudson, FL and Heidi Hormel of Hanover; a brother-in-law, Lauren Brown; a sister-in-law, Joan Brown, both of Hanover; two nephews, Chris and Jeremy Brown; and a niece, Abbey Johnson.

A celebration of Terry’s life will take place at a later date and will be announced. Burial will be held privately at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
