Stephen T. Sponseller, 78, of Hanover, beloved husband of Christine C. Sponseller, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at his home.

Born on Wednesday, February 26, 1947 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Melvin and Gladys Wallet Sponseller. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bradley Sponseller; and a sister, Bonnie Natschke. Stephen was a 1965 graduate of South Western High School and loved getting together with his classmates at reunions and other gatherings. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam Era and retired in 2009 after 31 years of service as a letter carrier with the US Postal Service. Stephen was a vendor at the Williams Grove Flea Market, and a member of the Hanover Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #227, and International Photographers Association, as he was known for taking pictures of celebrities. He loved nature and going to the family cabin, but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by his daughter, Stephanie C. Sponseller of Hanover; and a brother, James C. Sponseller and wife, Robin, of Hanover.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6 to 8:00 PM on October 29, 2025 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway in Hanover. A prayer service will follow at 8:00 PM.
