Shirley M. Snyder

Shirley Mae (Lightner) Snyder, 90, of Hanover, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026 at Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation in York.

Born on Sunday, January 27, 1935 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Raymond W. and Virginia (Farrence) Lightner. She was also preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years, Kenneth E. Snyder, who died in 2022. A 1954 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Shirley was a retired employee of Hanover Shoe with more than 20 years of service. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on York Street and the National Chapter of AARP.

A funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway in Hanover with The Rev. Jason Northridge officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. There will be a viewing held one hour prior to the service.
