Shirley K. Smith

Shirley K. Smith, 96, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Homewood at Plum Creek.

Born on Sunday, May 26, 1929 in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late Henry Louis Keifer and Katherine Minnie (Kabler) Keifer. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Melvin Smith, who died in 2010; a daughter, Kathryn L. Clarke; two sisters, Doris R. Burford and Colleen “Pat” Sauter; and two brothers, Henry L. Keifer, Jr. and James L. Keifer. Shirley was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, Stephen L. Smith and his wife, Debra; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private service is planned with burial in the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Elkridge, MD.
