Sana Humes

Sana Humes, of Glenville, PA, a beautiful, shining light to all who knew and loved her, was lost on Sunday, December 14, 2025.

A native of Jerusalem, Palestine, she was the first of three daughters born to George and Luba (Michael) Barghout of Towson, MD. Sana was held in high regard by so many for her caring, generous nature and fun-loving spirit. Sana was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She went above and beyond for the people she loved, always putting others first, a lovely, selfless, brilliant, and inspiring lady. She was a consummate professional who found immense joy in filling the role of mentor to those on her team. She wanted nothing more than to see them find their true calling and succeed on that path. She was passionate about her career of providing creative and practical administrative solutions in the healthcare industry and for the Department of Veteran Affairs. She diligently fought to provide veterans with quality healthcare and to protect those in need. She was also instrumental in creating the program, CHIP; Children’s Healthcare Insurance Program.

Sana loved nature, especially feeding the birds and watching chipmunks and squirrels around her home. She enjoyed relaxing with morning coffee, sitting by the fireplace, going on vacations, boating, shopping, and supporting local artists and their efforts, but most of all spending quality time with her cherished family.

Sana is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Stephen Earl Humes, Jr.; two daughters, Samira Rachel Humes & Angela Marie Humes as well as Angela's partner, Brad Zayon; a sister, Amal Sina Barghout-Karzai; and her beloved grandpuppy, Meeko. She was preceded in death by her younger sister, Mona Leila Barghout-Demetriou.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on January 4, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway in Hanover, PA.
