Ruth A. Lawrence

Ruth Alice Lawrence, 60, of Spring Grove, formerly of Carmichaels, PA, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Holy Spirit Medical Center in Camp Hill.

Born on March 23, 1965 in Waynesburg, she was a daughter of the late Thomas R. Pevarnik, Sr. and Alice (Miller) Pevarnik. Ruth was a 1983 graduate of Carmichaels Area High School, a 1987 graduate of St. Vincent College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a 1995 graduate of McDaniel College (formerly Western Maryland College) with a Masters Degree in Psychology. She worked as a high school psychology and history teacher and later as a guidance counselor for Susquehannock High School. Following her retirement from Susquehannock, she founded Compassion Transport Services, LLC and provided paratransit services to those in the greater Adams County area. Ruth was a former member of the Hanover Area Jaycees, former executive director of the ARC of Adams County, and volunteer for the Adams County SPCA. She was generous to all, loved taking care of animals, and enjoyed sharing family recipes for pierogies and haluski with her children. She made friends everywhere she went and highly valued learning about the world around her.

Survivors include a daughter, Anne Lawrence and her fiancé, Matthew Braccili; a son, Adam Lawrence and his wife, LaShay; a grandchild, Kendrick Lawrence; two sisters, Priscilla Michalik and her husband, Frank, and Carrie Swing and her husband, Jeff; a brother, Thomas Pevarnik, Jr. and his wife, Robin; four nephews and two nieces.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on March 7, 2026 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway in Hanover.
