Paul Michael “Butch” Bowersox, 69, of Hanover, husband of Geraldine Schuchart Bowersox, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Hanover Hospital following a brief illness.

Born on April 11, 1940, he was a son of the late Ruth Wallet Wright and Paul Bowersox. He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Greg Kendzierski. A lifelong resident of Hanover, he was a 1958 graduate of Eichelberger High School and retired after 20 years with Caterpillar, Inc. He later was employed by the Lincoln Intermediate Unit #12 as a bus assistant, transporting and creating special bonds with wheelchair bound students.

Mr. Bowersox loved his grandchildren, traveling through the mountains, and spending time reading a good book or greeting neighbors from his front porch. He was a member of United Auto Workers Union # 786, and as he was enthusiastic about wild life preservation, he was a member of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Friends of Black Water.

In addition to his wife of 46 years, he is survived by two daughters, Shura Kendzierski-Shontz and her husband Greg Shontz of Ellicott City, MD, and Sharon Sell and her husband Ronald Sell of Glenville; two grandsons, Philemon Kendzierski and Brock Shontz; 1 step-granddaughter, Holly Shontz; a brother, Steven Wright and his wife Monica of Hanover; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Panebaker Funeral Home with Mark Bowersox officiating. Burial will be private at Rest Haven Cemetery. The viewing will be held 6-8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
