Nancy C. McManus

Nancy C. (Strausbaugh) McManus, 82, of Hanover, beloved wife of Charles E. McManus, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, October 10, 2025, at UPMC Hanover.

Born on Sunday, June 13, 1943, in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Daniel Strausbaugh and Emma Florence Rinker Strausbaugh. She was preceded in death by six siblings: Wilma Steinour, William Strausbaugh, Theresa Orner, Daniel Strausbaugh, Josie Kuhn, and Alice Wright. She is survived by a brother Steve Strausbaugh. 

Nancy was a proud graduate of Delone Catholic High School, class of 1961and was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a Girl Scout leader at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 1970 until 1990, receiving a silver award for her dedication to her church and the Girl Scout program. In 2025 she became a member of the Pennsylvania and York County voter hall of fame. Nancy spent her career as a professional seamstress specializing in hand made dolls and various cloth toys. She was well known for making different items including, Raggedy Ann dolls, colonial dolls, teddy bears, and bunnies. She also made dolls for the Jenny Wade House. When not sewing you would find Nancy in her yard tending her annual flower display.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of 62 years, are four children, Rebecca Barlow, Karen McManus, Carrie Saulsbery and her husband, Tim, and Andy McManus and his wife, Andrea; three grandchildren, Maggie Barlow, Ryan Brodmerkel, and Megan Brodmerkel; and one great grandchild, Lily Barlow. 

Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 10 AM.
