Mary G. Wisner, 94, of Hanover, left her earthly life and entered her eternal one on Monday, February 20, 2012 at Homewood at Plum Creek.
Born on March 29, 1917 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Harry G. and Bertha Wildasin Wetzel and the wife of 67 years to Robert A. Wisner, who died in 2005. The last of her immediate family, she was also preceded in death by her six brothers, Raymond, Woodrow, Alpheus, Jay, Richard and Leroy Wetzel and three sisters, Beulah Wetzel Myers, Ruth Wetzel Bankert and Ozella Wetzel Baker. She was an inspector with Pillowtex for many years before her retirement in 1979 and was a member of St. Paul’s (Dubs) Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Guild. She enjoyed quilting and gardening, and had a special fondness for roses. She also enjoyed cooking and loved to feed the family when they got together.
She is survived by her son, George L. Wisner and his wife, Darlene of Hanover; her daughter, Susan E. Myers and her husband, David of Naples, FL; five grandchildren, Scott and Steven Wisner, Holly Russo and Andrew and Lauren Myers; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held 11 am Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Craig A. Lantz officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s (Dubs) Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the viewing from 10 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Paul’s (Dubs) Lutheran Church, 1958 Dubs Church Road, Hanover PA 17331.
