Marlene R. Strickler, 89, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, April 10, 2026 at Homewood Living Plum Creek.
Born on Tuesday, June 2, 1936 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Willis Sponseller and Sarah Wildasin Sponseller. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Lorn D. Strickler, who died in 2018; and her son, Stephen Rebert, who died in 2024. Marlene was a 1954 graduate of Eichelberger High School and was a hard worker in Hanover most of her life. She spent time working for SKF, Hanover Direct, and the Famous Hot Weiner. Marlene was also a member of First Baptist Church in Hanover. She enjoyed reading, music, and played the organ and piano.
Survivors include her two daughters, Karen K. Brooks and her husband, Stephen, of McSherrystown, and Rene R. Camacho and her husband, David, of Port St. Lucie, FL; five grandchildren, Andrew, Stephen, Wesley, David Carlos, and Daniel; 10 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Darwin Sponseller and his wife, Nina, of Abbottstown ; and one nephew.
A service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, April 20, 2026 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
