Kevin L. Sutherland

Kevin Lynn Sutherland, 61, of Hanover, beloved husband of Kelly (O’Donnell) Sutherland, entered into God’s care on Friday, February 20, 2026 at UPMC Hanover, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on February 18, 1965 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Henry Wadsworth Sutherland and Rosella Maria (Lehigh) Sutherland.

Kevin was a man of strength, resilience, and quiet devotion. He was known as a hard worker in every season of his life, spending years in construction and masonry before finding his true calling on the open road. Earning his CDL was a proud moment for him, and his work as a truck driver with Kivi Trucking Company gave him both a deep sense of purpose and a feeling of freedom. He took pride in what he did and truly believed his work mattered, knowing he was helping make sure people had what they needed.

During his time with Kivi, Kevin made an incredible impact. He played a key role in the start up of the company’s Mentor Program and became known for his steady leadership, strong work ethic, and willingness to support others. To those who worked beside him, Kevin was more than a coworker. He was a mentor, a trusted friend, and someone people could count on without hesitation.

Outside of work, Kevin was full of life in the most genuine way. He loved the simple things, time with family, being outside, working with his hands, and enjoying the moments that made life feel good. He especially loved taking his family on beach trips, creating memories together in the sun, the sand, and the ocean. Those vacations were some of his favorite times, surrounded by the people he loved most. He loved his dogs, loved watching NASCAR, and was a die hard fan of the San Francisco 49ers, Dale Earnhardt, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. He loved music, he loved to laugh, and he had a way of joking and keeping things light even during the hard seasons of life.

Kevin also loved the game of softball. He spent many years on the field playing a game he truly enjoyed, creating memories with friends while family cheered him on from the sidelines. Those moments, playing ball, laughing, and being surrounded by the people he loved, were some of the truest reflections of who he was at his core.

Above all, Kevin was a family man. He loved deeply, steadily, and loyally. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, a loving grandfather, a brother, and someone who always showed up for the people he loved. He had a heart of gold. He worked hard to provide, he made time to be present, and he left his mark on his family in ways that will be felt for a lifetime.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 13 years, Kelly, are his children Krista Sutherland and her fiancé Trey Green, Kevin Sutherland Jr., Kendra Sutherland, Kaiden Sutherland, Sharae Knight; his step children Kirsten Bain, Joshua Cota, and Kyle Hess; his grandchildren Paisley West, Haven Green, and Graham Cota; his sister Kayann Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his brother Michael Sutherland.

Kevin will be remembered for his strength, his work ethic, his loyalty, his humor, and the steady way he loved the people in his life. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, dedication, and the quiet but powerful way he showed up for those who mattered most.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
