Joseph F. "Joe" Smith

Joe Smith, 60, beloved husband of Justine Buhr Smith, of Hanover, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at UPMC Hanover surrounded by his loving family.

Born on Thursday, September 16, 1965 in Gettysburg, he was a son of the late Robert J. Smith and Janet Arlene Fair Smith. Joe was a graduate of Littlestown High School and worked as an auto mechanic for many years. He was a member of the McSherrystown Home Association and the McSherrystown Fish & Game. Joe was a jack of all trades; he could accomplish any project or task. You could usually find him tinkering around the house and working on cars. Most of all, Joe’s greatest joy in life was being a father - he loved quality time with his family. He kept busy with taking his children to activities and being present for them. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and pop.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 34 years, are three children, Breann Smith, Jordan Smith, and Nicole Smith; one grandchild, Luca Joseph Porcello; one sibling, Michele Lowman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
