John L. Neiderer, Sr., 98, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Pappus House in Thomasville.
Born on Sunday, October 2, 1927 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Norbert G. and Arline (Billman) Neiderer. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Carlynn (Hartman) Neiderer, who died in 2017; a son, John L. Neiderer, Jr.; a sister, Jean T. Smith; and brothers, Donald J. Neiderer, Fred L. Neiderer and Richard J. Neiderer.
John was a 1945 graduate of Eichelberger High School and received his Bachelor’s degree in Pre-Medicine from Pennsylvania State University in 1950. He served in the US Army in the Corps of Engineers as a map surveyor just prior to the Korean War. In 1986, he retired as the technical department manager and chemist at PH Glatfelter, where he had worked for more than 33 years. John was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and served on the parish and diocesan councils, various committees, and for the 10th Synod. He was also a parish Eucharistic minister, an early lector, was a past president of the Holy Name Society, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
In his retirement, John was a long-time member of and former executive director of the Hanover Area Industrial Management Club. He was a volunteer with the Hanover Red Cross Blood Services and the Feed-A-Friend Christmas Project. He was also a member and past president of the North Hanover Mall Pacesetters.
Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Reese of Hanover, Julie Van Buskirk and her husband, Robert, of Fayetteville, and Meg Neiderer of Hanover; a daughter-in-law, Cecelia Neiderer of Johnstown; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 12 nieces and seven nephews.
