Joan L. Lee

Joan L. Lee, 80, of Baltimore, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Golden Crest Assisted Living in Hampstead, MD.

Born on Friday, July 6, 1945 in Frostburg, MD, she was a daughter of the late Robert M. and Helen Jacobs Wiebrecht. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Roger L.F. Lee, who died in 2022. A 1966 graduate of the Washington County School of Nursing, Joan was a registered nurse for nearly 40 years, a profession that she dearly loved. During that time, she worked at St. Agnes and Bon Secours Hospitals in Baltimore. After her retirement, she and Roger enjoyed spending those early years in Florida. She also enjoyed reading, sewing and had a fond interest of animals, especially bird watching. Above all, Joan enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Heather Anne Carpenter and her husband, Bill, of Glen Rock, and Melissa Ellen Lacy of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Jesse Earl Carpenter, Lauren Anna Lacy, and Kendall Bria Lacy; a sister, Linda Helen Kight and her husband, Jim; and a nephew, J. Kevin Kight and his wife, Teresa.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway in Hanover. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
