Joan H. (Kammerer) Hammersla, 85, of Glenville, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, June 15, 2025 at her home.
Born on Wednesday, May 29, 1940 in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Zimmerer) Kammerer. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, George F. Hammersla, Jr., who died in 2022; two daughters, Beverly Groft and Donna Marie Powell; a grandson, Joseph Harris; and siblings, John Kammerer, Anna Blake, Bill Kammerer, Charles Kammerer and Margaret Grainger. Joan was a member of Grace Global Methodist Church and enjoyed her quilting club known as the “JEMS”. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include three children, John Meeks, Sandra Shatzer and George Meeks and his wife, Bonnie; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer, Samantha, Greg, David, Michael, Jerry, Tiffany, Ray, Elizabeth, Laura, Ben and Emily; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at the Grace Global Methodist Church, 55 Albright Drive in Hanover, with Pastor Mike Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway in Hanover.
