Jean A. Eckard

Jean A. Eckard, 92, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, May 22, 2026 at Columbia Cottage.

Born on Saturday, September 30, 1933 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Aumon and M. Eleanor Roth Aumon. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Norman L. Eckard, who died January 26, 1990; and three siblings, James F. Aumon, Margaret M. Spangler, and Mary E. Aumon. Jean was a 1951 graduate of Delone Catholic High School and worked many jobs, but most notably worked for Kleffel’s and K-Mart. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and also attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. Jean was a member of the Y.W. Wives Club and a past Den Mother for Cub Scouts. She enjoyed square dancing and volunteering at church. Jean was very family oriented and loved her family dearly.

Survivors include her five children, Allen Eckard and his wife, Kathy, Michael Eckard and his wife, Diana, Larry Eckard, Susan Racey and her husband, Scott, and Linda Sewak and her husband, Donald; six granddaughters, Rachel Eckard, Sarah Senft, Elizabeth Shearer, Jennifer McConnell, Kelly McWilliams, and Megan Sewak; 11 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
