James M. Hartlaub, 78, of Spring Grove, beloved husband of Adrienne Kiser Hartlaub, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on Saturday, September 21, 1946 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Harry J. and Bernadine Hershey Hartlaub. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas, Richard “Dick”, Jack and Gary Hartlaub; and two sisters, Sandy and Patsy Hartlaub. A 1965 graduate of South Western High School, James was a carpenter for Humberto Palmer, Delmar Builders, H.H. Hogg and Kinsley Construction. He also worked in maintenance for the Weishaven Swim & Tennis Club and at the Wellspan Gettysburg Hospital.
In addition to his wife of 48 years, He is survived by three children, Michelle Garrett and her husband, Jason, of Spring Grove, Joshua Hartlaub of Hanover, and Adam Hartlaub and his wife, Stephanie, of York; six grandchildren, J.T. Garrett, Alexandra Flurie, Sage Hartlaub, Daxton Yike, and Hope, Hunter and Megan Hartlaub; three Great-grandchildren, Gavin, Bristol and Baylor; a sister, Peggy Hartlaub; and several nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held.
