Helen L. Ziegler

Helen L. Ziegler, 92, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at her home.

Born on Sunday, June 18, 1933 in West Hazelton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Peter J. and Mary Fatula Stahovich. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Willard D. “Zig” Ziegler, Jr., who died in 2011; and a brother, John Stahovich. A 1951 graduate of West Hazelton High School, she was a former employee of Bell Telephone in Hazelton and New York City, and retired in 1991 from Hanover Hospital where she had been a switch board operator for 17 years and volunteered as a Grey Lady for many years.

Helen was a longtime member of All Saints Episcopal Church, where she served on the Vestry for a number of years, sang in the choir and gave her time for many church activities. She and Zig enjoyed Polka dancing and would go to Polka dance weekends in the Catskills. She loved to read and had a passion for all animals, especially cats.

Survivors include a son, Eric P. Ziegler and his wife, Gail, of Rhode Island; a daughter, Lisa Ann Lucht and her husband, James, of North Carolina; four grandsons and one granddaughter.

A funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway in Hanover with The Rev. Michael Rothan officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
