Haley W. Hobbs, Jr. “Jack”, 83, of Hanover (formerly Baltimore, MD), beloved husband of Joyce Hobbs passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025 at Wellspan York Hospital.
Born on Saturday, May 16, 1942 in Danville, VA, he was a son of the late Audrey Sylvia Herndon and Haley Wilson Hobbs, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Connie Herndon Zingarelli. Jack was a veteran of the United States Naval Reserves and retired from Westinghouse, now Northrop Grumman, after more than 30 years. He was an amateur radio operator using the call letters WB3IKC. He also worked for the auxiliary police in Baltimore County Maryland. Jack was a simple man who enjoyed his motorcycle, leather work, camping and backpacking. And, as everyone knows, was a storyteller and loved to talk. Jack was also a beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Joyce of 61 years, are two children, Kimberly Hobbs McDermott and her significant other, Francis “Chip” Clayton, and Karen Hobbs Hamilton, her spouse, Michael Fox, and her former spouse Donald Hamilton, Jr.; three grandchildren, Christine Smith and her spouse, Jim, Kelsey Serring and her spouse, Chad, and Matthew Hamilton and his spouse, Hallie; and three great grandchildren, Mason and Cayden Smith, and Dax Serring.
Following cremation, a gathering of family and friends will be held from 10-12 PM on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway.
