H. Edward Baublitz, 88, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, July 3, 2026 at home with his loving family by his side.
Born on Saturday, July 2, 1938 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Harry Clinton Baublitz and Marian Baker Baublitz. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, C. Roseanne (Keffer) Baublitz, who died in 2014; a daughter, Jodi Baublitz; and two brothers, Ronald Baublitz and Leon Baker. Ed was a graduate of Eichelberger High School and later served in the US Navy from 1957 to 1961. He was a PA State Constable for 44 years, worked as a pulpwood driver for the former PH Glatfelter Company, and was one of the first drivers of the Coronary Van for the Hanover Fire Department. He also taught First Aid and CPR for the American Red Cross and hunter safety classes for 45 years.
Ed was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus in McSherrystown, the PA State Constable’s Association, where he had held multiple officer positions including president, was a lifetime member of the Clearview Fire Company #3 and had served as the company’s chief for many years, was also a member of the Hanover Loyal Order of Moose #227, Hanover Republican Club, and the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post #14. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and belonged to the McSherrystown Fish & Game and Jefferson Rifle Club. Ed will be long remembered for his desire to stay busy. In his spare time, he would do crafts.
Survivors include his four children, Karen (Perry) Sanders of New Oxford, Ronald (Laura Allen) Baublitz of Magnolia, DE, Edward S. (Carrie) Baublitz of McSherrystown, and Kathy (Todd) King of Port St. Lucie, FL; seven grandchildren, Michael, Stephen and Benjamin Sanders, Kayla Doron, Jonathan Baublitz, Rachel Allen and Keegan Zy King; five great-grandchildren, Charles, Lavinia, Georgia, Harrison and Lucille; and many other extended family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road in Hanover. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at viewings held from 6 to 8:00PM on Tuesday at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway in Hanover and at the church one hour prior to the mass. A recitation of the Rosary will be said at 8:00PM on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
