Gale E. "Zummy" Zumbrum

Gale E. “Zummy” Zumbrum, 79, beloved husband of Joanne Elizabeth Trone Zumbrum, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2026 surrounded by his family.

Born on July 15, 1946 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Edward Zumbrum and Lorraine Shue Zumbrum. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Gail Lindsey; and a brother, Sheldon Zumbrum. Gale served his country proudly and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving one tour in Vietnam. He retired from PH Glatfelter with 41 years of service. Gale was a member of the quarter century club. He also worked for Geiman Motors on York Street for 21 years. Gale was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, was a life time member of the VFW Post 2506, the AMVETS Post 22,, the McSherrystown Home Association, and the Eagles 1406. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and was a loyal fan of the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He also loved his old cars which he has many trophies for.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 40+ years, are three children, Kenny Zumbrum, and his wife, Gina, Jerome Miller and his wife, Reen, and Monica Roberts and her husband, Brian; four grandchildren, Brandon Zumbrum, Caitlyn Laughman and her husband, Dillon, Kevin Roberts, and Jason Roberts; a future great grandson; two siblings, Gene Zumbrum and his wife, Rose, and Star Noel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, services will be held privately.
