Fay Zile

Fay Zile, 74, of Hanover, beloved wife of Sterling Pierce Zile, Jr., passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Wellspan York Hospital.

Born on Friday, February 9, 1951 in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late Myer Seidel and Marie Riley Seidel. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Seidel.

Fay worked for the Park School District for 30 years and loved being a bus driver. She loved animals, camping, and singing- especially if it was country music..Her greatest joy, however, came from her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She embraced every moment spent with them, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. Fay's love knew no bounds, and her children were often the recipients of her unwavering support and dedication. She did anything for them, exemplifying a mother’s love that was nurturing and profound. Together with her husband, she brought joy to countless families by portraying Mrs. Claus for nearly fifty years. Their partnership was a testament to love, joy, and dedication, as they continued to share smiles and laughter. Fay illuminated the lives of those around her with her vibrant spirit and unwavering love.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of nearly 57 years, are two children, Michelle Long and her husband, Eric, and John Zile and his husband, Omar; two grandchildren, Deidre Carter and her husband, Chris, and Michael Diffenderffer; three great grandchildren, Haydn Zile, Paisley Carter, and Cody Diffenderffer; Karyn Dawn Brashears, who was like a daughter to her; and her loving faithful fur companion, Holly.

A memorial service will be held at 7 PM on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
