Ellen M. Sheaffer

Ellen M. Sheaffer, 80, of Hanover, beloved wife of Christopher J. Sheaffer, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2026 at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

Born on Thursday, October 4, 1945 in New York City, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Elizabeth Harrison Wolf. A 1963 graduate of Eichelberger High School, she was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church and attended York College. Ellen retired after 23 years of service as an Employment Training Specialist at the HART Center in New Oxford. She enjoyed flower arranging, gardening and cooking, especially baking.

Surviving, in addition to her loving husband of 51 years are two sons, Matthew Sheaffer and his wife, Elizabeth, and Adam Sheaffer, all of Hanover; three grandchildren, Patrick Trone, Zachary Sheaffer and Brenna Hursh; two sisters, Dorothy Wolf of Hanover and Christine Riesenfeld and her husband, Stefan, of Santa Barbara, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church by The Rev. Joseph F. Gotwalt. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 6 to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 6 at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway in Hanover.
