Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Rd., Hanover.
Visitation: Viewings will be Sunday evening 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover, with recitation of the rosary at 8:00 p.m. and Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the church.
Edwin F. Mr. ED Krichten, 80, of Hanover, went to be with his Heavenly Father late Tuesday evening, February 21, 2007 at Hanover Hospital. He was the loving husband of Geraldine Sis Neiderer Krichten to whom he had been married for 58 years. Born in Hanover on July 2, 1926, he was the last living son of the late Ellsworth J. and Mary Jane Pohlman Krichten. Mr. Krichten was a self-employed painter for over 50 years as well as a Skateguard at Magic Elm Skateland from 1974 until retiring in September 2005. Ed was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed yearly trips to Ocean City, MD, going to Atlantic City, NJ casinos, horse races, roller skating, collecting baseball hats, decorating the house for christmas, giving out Halloween candy and in his spare time, enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Other memberships included McSherrystown Council Knights of Columbus, Ft. Cyril J. Allwein 4th Degree Assembly, Hanover, McSherrystown Home Association, and the McSherrystown Loyal Order of Moose. In addition to his wife, he will be sadly missed by his daughters Kathy and Patricia (Trisha) Krichten of Hanover, Rich Coble who considered Mr. Ed to be like a father, five sisters Mildred Heagy of Hellam, Gladys Shaffer of East Berlin, Gloria Dennis and husband Kenneth of York, Janet Houck and husband Wayne of Hanover, Mary Siegrist and husband Alvin of Columbia, sister-in-law Frances Krichten and loving pets Shayea, Midnight, Silver Spring, Spirit also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 3 children, Glenn A. Krichten, Edwin M. Krichten, Martha J. Krichten, 3 sisters Lillian Lawrence, Sister Mary Josita, Barbara Elslager, 2 brothers Carroll Krichten, Robert Krichten and a niece Kimberly Houck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Rd., Hanover. Viewings will be Sunday evening 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover, with recitation of the rosary at 8:00 p.m. and Monday morning from 10 to 11 A.M. at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Rev. Joseph F. Gotwalt will serve as celebrant. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Neiderer, Carl Hankey, Rich Coble, Andy Moul, Gary Miller, and Carole Orndorff.
