Dr. Pete Soule

Dr. Pete Soule, 87, of Lenexa, KS, beloved husband to Sally Sandruck Soule, died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, January 11, 2026.

Born on Thursday, March 3, 1938, in Detroit, MI, he was a son of the late William Ernest Soule and Virginia Adolf Hendrick. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Sandra Nicholas and Sherri Hendrick. Following his graduation from high school, Pete enlisted in the United States Army Reserves. He was the Honor Graduate for his Officer Candidate School and later earned the rank of Major. He served two tours in the Vietnam War as a Green Beret. He later completed Jump School and Ranger School, and was a member of the 101st Airborne Rangers. While proudly serving his country, he also earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Park University, Missouri. He later earned two Master’s degrees, one in Public Administration and the other in Economics from the University of Oklahoma. In 1988, he accepted his PhD in Economics from OU and spent his career teaching at Park University for over 30 years, retiring in 2023. In 2002, he was awarded a Fulbright Grant and taught in Ukraine for a year. He loved his job and always had a book in his hand, always educating himself as well as others.

He was a Jack of all trades and a Master of some. If he did not know how to do it, he read about and it and did it. He loved to work on his Corvette and other cars, and could fix things around the house from carpentry to plumbing. He and Sally traveled the world, enjoyed cruising and being resident members of TC Dance Club. He was a member of the OU Club of Kansas City, where he had served as Past President. He was also a Kansas City Chiefs fan.

In addition to his wife of 44 years, he is survived by three children, David and wife Michelle Soule of Urich, MO, William Soule of Port Heron, MI, and Annie Knepp and her fiancé, Michael of Clinton Township, MI, 10 grandchildren, Brian, Whitney, Shara, Jasmine, Nobleman, Carlie and her husband, Alex, McKayla, Tyler, Ricky and Jayden; four great-grandchildren, Payton, Blake, Jaqueline and Violet, Sister-in-Law Melanie Brady, Brother-in-law David Sandruck, and many nieces and nephews, some of whom were “far, far away.”

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA where military graveside rites will be rendered by Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
