Doris L. Garman

Doris L. Garman, 97, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Columbia Cottage.

Born on Monday, January 30, 1928 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Harry H. and Bessie (Wentz) Thomas. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Frederick Zartman, who died in 1992; her second husband, Charles Garman, who died in 2005; and a brother, Harold Thomas.

A 1946 graduate of Eichelberger High School, she was later employed at Hanover Shoe, JC Penney’s, Town and Country Department Store, before retiring from Kmart in Hanover. Doris enjoyed painting, dancing, going to the beach, but most of all, spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah L. Bankert and husband, David, of Hanover; a son, Douglas L. Zartman and wife, Debbie, of Mechanicsburg; three grandchildren, Brian Bankert, Deanna Weaver and Danielle Witmer and husband, Justin; and three great-grandchildren, Austin Blouch, Makenzie Weaver and Calvin Witmer.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 2, 2025 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway in Hanover. Burial will be held privately in Rest Haven Cemetery.
