Dean M. Shearer

“To make a long story short” Dean M. Shearer, 69, of Hanover, beloved husband of Mark L. Corl with whom their partnership began in 2000 and got married in 2015, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026 at UPMC Hanover.

Born on Friday, November 9, 1956 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Clyde and Viola (Hersh) Shearer. Dean received his Bachelor of Science degree from Millersville University. He offered compassionate assistance as a case worker at the Changing Lives Homeless Shelter when it transitioned from a cold weather to a full-time shelter, reviewing shelter policies. He later worked as a Mortgage Loan Originator from 2000 to present to help families obtain the home of their dreams.

Dean loved being at the beach and the condos that he was proud to have owned. Pool parties with his closest friends were the highlights of his summers. He fought courageous battles with various medical issues, with renal failure being his final obstacle. He wanted to better educate the public to consider donating one of their kidneys to one of the many dialysis patients who have waited a long time for a transplant.

A private service will be held.
