Barbara Ann Bixler

Barbara “Barbie” A. Bixler, 84, of Hanover, passed away on October 2, 2026 at UPMC Memorial Hospital.

Born in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late, James W. and Ethel A. (Hirt) Miller.

Barbie graduated from Delone Catholic High School in 1960. She later graduated from Empire Cosmetology School and was an Avon Cosmetics Representative for 30 plus years.

Barbie was a member of the AMVETS of Hanover, the Hanover VFW, Hanover Eagles and the Hanover Home Association.

Barbie had a love for the simple things that made life beautiful. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, going to the beach, playing bingo at carnivals and she especially loved cats. She also had a special fondness for collecting angels and dimes. She was a supportive and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and loved being around her family.

She is survived by her children, Don A. Bixler (Sherry) of Hanover, Donna M. Bixler of Hanover, Jeanne M. Dubs (Dru) of Hanover, Rob G. Bixler of Hanover; sister, Ethel Ernst (Larry), 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by extended family and friends.

Barbie was predeceased by her husband Glenn E. Bixler; daughter, Bonnie A. Showvaker (Tracy), siblings; Philip Miller, James Miller, Cyril Miller, Marian Bange, Mary Lou Smith, and Marie Busbey.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 10-11 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be immediately following the mass at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Cemetery, McSherrystown, PA.
