Anne Kensley (Leitch) Weisensale, age 65, passed into the loving arms of her Savior on Sunday, March 22nd, 2026 at her home in Hanover, Pennsylvania.
Anne was born November 30th,1960, the daughter of the late Sally Lee (Gilbert) Leitch and James Ormond Leitch in Ligonier, Westmoreland County, PA. She grew up at Camp Fairfield Presbyterian Church Camp where her father was the camp director. She learned how to work hard by helping to care for their 60 horses and performing many other jobs around the camp including lifeguard. While attending Laurel Valley High School, she became actively involved in showing Appaloosa horses. Anne, her mother and older sisters became well known in the horse arena and were especially proud to have owned a National Champion Leopard Appaloosa named Dominion Codex— whom they called Cody.
Shortly before her high school junior year, the family moved to Deerwood, MN where her father started Clearwater Forest Camp. In 1978 she graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School and sometime later entered the Miss Crosby pageant and was awarded the crown and title of Miss Crosby. Later that year she traveled to Minneapolis to represent the area in the Miss Minnesota Pageant. She later attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and in the late 80’s moved to Minneapolis and earned a degree as a Certified Therapeutic Massage Therapist from the Aveda Arts and Sciences Institute. She then started a therapeutic massage business in the elite area of Uptown Minneapolis, in cooperation with the renowned Jon English.
Anne moved with her daughter Izetta to Hanover, PA in 1993 and married Jay Weisensale on June 24th, 1995. She devoted herself to being a wife and mother to Izetta and Hannah who was born the following year. Around that time Anne received a diagnosis of Huntington’s Disease, a neurodegenerative disease that affects the mind and body. She battled this disease for 30 years until her death. Although the disease greatly affected her later in life, friends and family remember her fondly as generous, caring, creative, strong-willed and spontaneous. Anne was an avid believer in Jesus, Christian values and the power of human touch. She loved her family, life outdoors - rain or shine, camping, drawing, traveling, and any type of adventure. She gave her all to whatever she set her mind to, often referring to herself as "all or nothing." She was rugged, "rough and tumble," yet unquestionably feminine, and could find a four leaf clover anywhere she looked.
In addition to her husband, Jay Alan Weisensale; daughters, Izetta Rebecca Britton and Hannah Mae Weisensale; and nine grandchildren ages 0-11, she is survived by her siblings, Helen Saltzgiver and James “Jimmy” Leitch, and her stepmother, Marcia Leitch. She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Rebecca Hunt and Paula Housekeeper, both also lost to Huntington’s Disease.
A celebration of Anne’s life will be held on Saturday April 18th, 2026. The family will receive guests at 4:00 p.m. The service will begin at 5:00 p.m. with dinner to follow. Both will be held at Life Discovery Church, 414 Main Street, McSherrystown with Pastor Gerry Stoltzfoos officiating.
