Theodore Warner Young, 90, formerly of Hanover, died February 7, 2022 at Celebration Villa, Dillsburg, PA, following a period of declining health. Born on March 5,1931 in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of the late Carroll Ira and Helen Louise Young and was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Faye Burns Young in 2015, and a son, John Michael Shaffer. "Ted" was a 1949 graduate of Westminster High School in Westminster, MD. He was a dairy farmer for over 30 years and spent the remainder of his career in the electronics industry in Baltimore, MD and York, PA, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene and a life member of the Green Springs Rod and Gun Club. In addition to hunting, he enjoyed amateur radio, antique tractors, and gardening. An avid history buff, he participated in many World War II reenactment weekend events and was also a volunteer member of the 512th, B17G Antique Aircraft Restoration Group which worked for 10 years to restore the "Shoo -Shoo Baby"-now on display at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. During his years in Westminster, MD, he was a well-known local jazz saxophonist and played with several bands at venues in MD and PA. He is survived by three daughters, Helen Widdowson and her husband, Douglas, of Carlisle, Kathy Beland, of Clarendon VT and Barbara Denk and her husband, Bill, of Dana Point, CA; six grandchildren, Tanner (Stephanie) Widdowson of Hanover, Benjamin (Kayi) Widdowson of Austin, TX, Erin (Will) Perry of Nickayuna, NY, Joseph (Tracey) Beland of Jacksonville, NC, and Adam and Emily Denk, both of Dana Point; and three great-grandchildren, Hannah and Gabriel Perry, and Harper Widdowson. The funeral will be held Friday, February 11, 2022 at 1pm at Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 205 Fulton Street, Hanover with The Rev. David Breedlove officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday February 10 from 4-7pm at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. In lieu of floral tributes, contributions may be made to: Carroll County Agriculture Center & Shipley Arena, 706 Agricultural Center Dr. Westminster, MD 21157.
