October 7, 1949 - September 29, 2021
James (Jim) Adams was born October 7, 1949 in Iaeger WV to the late Maxine Elizabeth Brantley and James Willard Adams and passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Adams whom he took every opportunity to razzle, poke fun, and simply make her laugh; most of all, love her endlessly, which is how they found themselves celebrating 40 years of marriage! Carolyn and Jim had three beautiful children together (Christina, Dennis, & Jennifer Adams). Jim was known to live a simple life; reading the morning newspaper, drinking his coffee, watching his sports, playing the lottery, enjoying a beer mixed with tomato juice, but above all, loving his family and friends. He was a man of little words, but when it came to keeping in touch with every sibling, extended family member, and close friends, he was the BEST at making his rounds every day or so to make sure he was staying in constant communication. Jim is survived by six brothers and sisters; Chuck (Sue) Adams of Ohio, Willie Adams of Ohio, Libby (Tom) Adams of Florida, Lisa (Blaine) Hawthorne of West Virginia, Kelly Adams of Florida, and Scotty (Cristi) Rogers of Wyoming; step-daughter, Vicky (Bobby) Wolfe of Pennsylvania; close friends, Eric and Jodi Hufnagle; many nieces and nephews; and fur-friends Boomer, Gypsy, Maggie, & Louie whom always waited patiently because they knew Jim was going to approach with love and treats! Whenever your phone rang and you saw his name, you answered that call because you knew you were in for the call that would bring joy and belly laughs to your day! If you didn’t answer, you would find a voicemail that said, “DO SOME WORK” or an extended message listening to Jim talk because he forgot he was sent to your voicemail. If you picked up that call, you would find yourself on the phone for hours chatting about who was going to win the NASCAR race that day, the play by play of a West Virginia sports game, which game was going to bust your March Madness basketball bracket, or you would learn about his latest lottery winnings as he definitely had a lucky streak! One of his favorite stories to tell from his childhood was when his brother Willie scored the winning basket in a basketball game and the newspaper article gave ‘Jimmy Adams’ all the credit! It didn’t matter how many times that story was told, we would all laugh as if it was the first time we heard it. Jim spent almost 30 years working at Hanover Foods before retiring in 2017. Whether you called yourself a friend, family member, or long-time co-worker, with Jim’s passing, we will all miss that incredible laugh of his that is irreplaceable and unique to who he was, and his sense of joy and delight with each living day! We love you Jim! A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Harvest Time Temple, 700 Black Rock Road, Hanover with The Rev. Fred Mummert officiating.
