Dorothy Jean Harrison

September 19, 1948 - January 28, 2010

Dorothy “Dottie” Harrison, 61, of Hanover, wife of Richard G. Harrison, entered into God’s eternal care Thursday, January 28, 2010.

Born September 19, 1948 in Gettysburg, she was a daughter of Celeste Elizabeth Smith Pittenturf of McSherrystown and the late James Melvin Pittenturf. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Lynn Monn, a brother, James Pittenturf, and a sister, Ann Cleveland.

Mrs. Harrison was formerly employed as a nurse’s aide at Hanover Hospital and various nursing homes in the area. She also, along with her husband, operated D.J. Janitorial Service in Hanover. She collected Longaberger baskets and John Deere items.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of 39 years and her mother, are three sons, Archie J. Monn and his wife, Ruby, of Fayetteville, PA, Melvin E. Pittenturf and his wife, Susan, of Hanover, and Terry L. Harrison of Hanover; a step-daughter, Georgeann W. Harrison of Littlestown; five sisters, Louise Adams and her husband, Bill, of Sabillisville, MD, Betty Kaltreider of Abbottstown, Mary Shilling and her husband, Kurt, of Bradford, PA, Lynn Roby and her husband, Bill, of Carroll Valley, PA, and Celeste Harper and her husband, Lee, of York; five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and twin great-granddaughters.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, February 1, 2010 at Emmanuel United Church of Christ with The Rev. Earl R. Marks officiating.
